Cops bust movie pirates

TORONTO (PGN) >> Police here have busted a major DVD counterfeiting operation, seizing thousands of illegal copies of movies such as American Gangster and Transformers.

The raid took place Thursday morning at a storage rental unit near McCowan and Finch. Behind a garage door, police found a plywood wall and wooden door hiding a sophisticated DVD burning and packaging operation.

The unit contained shelves with rows of colour printers; DVD burning machines and stacks of counterfeit DVDs. Investigators believe the illegal business operated for about four months.

A 37-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with fraud and possession of stolen property. Police are seeking other suspects.
